Product Usage Guide
Extended Description
SoHMax Water Crystals is a potassium based polyacrylamide commonly known as polymer.
Polyacrylamide was developed in the 1960s to help grow plants in desert climates. Polyacrylamide is 100% non-toxic and bio-degradable. After 5-7 years it will break down to CO2, water and nitrogen. It actually absorbs 400 times its weight when activated with water. As a “soil additive” or a “soil substitute” your watering requirements can be reduced up to 50%.
Polyacrylamide is sold under many brand names including "Crystal Soil" and "AquaRocks" but all moisture retaining crystals are the same. We offer our SoHMax Water Crystals at guaranteed lowest prices so that you can most successfully grow fresh vegetables and fruits to improve your lifestyle and diet. We are committed to offering great products and ideas to help our customers Get Fit & Stay Fit!
SoHMax Water Crystals absorb and store moisture and nutrients from rain and watering. Plant roots will grow towards the water and fertilizer stored in SoHMax Water Crystals. The roots then tap into this nutrient rich moisture source when needed. SoHMax Water Crystals act like a water storage system for easy moisture management allowing you to water and fertilize less frequently.
SoHMax Water Crystals are the perfect way to give new landscaping and young trees access to the moisture they need. Simply sprinkle SoHMax Water Crystals in the hole before planting your new sapling or landscaping plants. Then plant as usual. They crystals will absorb the moisture and release it to the tender roots as they need it. This much needed resource gives your new plantings what they need so that the growth energy isn't wasted. This also saves you time with less frequent watering and SoHMax Water Crystals improves soil aeration for maximized root growth.
Typical Usage Guidelines
Trees and Shrubs
- 1 gallon plants use 1/4 cup
- 3 gallon plants use 1/2 cup
- 5 gallon plants use 3/4 cup
- 15 gallong plants use 1 1/2 cup
Dig hole at least three times the size of the container and incorporate SoHMax through out the area. After planting, create a dam around the tree or if on a slope leave the top side open to collect water thus allowing a water reservoir to be readily absorbed by SoHMax. (1/4 cup is equivalent to 2 ounces of SoHMax)
Lawns
Apply SoHMax before sodding at a rate of 4-5 pounds per 1,000 square feet tilled 1-2" deep or 5 pounds tilled 4-6" deep. Application can be either by hand or a lawn spreader. Never use more than 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet tilled only one inch, as prolonged sponginess may occur. After first rain, hydrated polymer may appear and the sod may seem loose. However, the exposed polymer will dissolve and after the roots grow from the sod the looseness will dissipate.
Vegetables and Flower Beds
Apply at a rate of 12-45 pounds per 1,000 square feet at 4-6" depth cultivation. The rate will depend on the variety of plants - use less for drier plants and more for moisture loving plants. After planting apply a good coat of mulch to dress up the bed and cover any loose polymer. This will give a finished look and protect the polymer from premature degradation by sunlight.
Potted Plants
- 4" pot use 1/6 tsp.
- 6" pot use 1 tsp.
- 8" pot use 2 tsp.
- 10" pot use 3 tsp.
When potting, it is recommended to pre-hydrate the SoHMax and then use 4 parts soil to 1 part hydrated SoHMax. If you are going to mix the SoHMax dry, it is best to have most of the SoHMax toward the bottom of the pot so it will better absorb available water.
